How to Host Live Sessions

Live sessions are a great way to interact with your students in real-time. Ukkera integrates seamlessly with Zoom to provide a powerful live teaching experience.

Prerequisites

  • A Zoom account (Free or Pro).
  • A stable internet connection.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connecting Your Zoom Account

Before hosting your first live class, you must link your Zoom account:

  1. Navigate to the Lives section.
  2. Click on Connect Zoom.
  3. You will be redirected to Zoom to authorize the connection.
  4. Once authorized, you'll return to the Ukkera dashboard, ready to start.

2. Scheduling a Live Session

To plan a future class:

  1. Go to Lives and click New Live.
  2. Select the Course this live session belongs to.
  3. Set the Title, Date, Start Time, and anticipated Duration.
  4. Choose the Groups that should have access to this session.
  5. Save the session to notify your students.

3. Starting and Managing the Live

When it's time for your class:

  1. Locate the session in the Lives list.
  2. Click Start Live. This will launch the Zoom interface.
  3. Students will see a "Join" button on their portals as soon as the session starts.
  4. To end the session, click End Live in the Ukkera dashboard to release the resources and update the status.

4. Using the Schedular

For a broader view of your teaching schedule:

  1. Use the Schedular tool to see all upcoming live sessions across all your courses.
  2. You can drag and drop sessions or click on empty slots to create new ones directly from the calendar view.

Tips

  • Test Your Equipment: Always test your microphone and camera within Zoom before starting the official session.
  • Recording: If you record your Zoom session, you can later upload it as a lecture in the Course Management section.
  • Disconnecting Zoom: If you need to switch accounts, use the "Disconnect Zoom" button in the Lives settings.
