How to Manage Access Requests and Reviews – Ukkera Instructor Dashboard
Handle student requests for course access and monitor feedback through course reviews.
How to Manage Access Requests and Security
Ukkera helps you maintain content security by managing how many devices each student can use. If a student tries to log in from more than the allowed number of devices, or if you have a private course, you will manage those permissions here.
Prerequisites
- For courses with manual enrollment, device limits, or public-facing reviews enabled.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Setting Device Limits
To prevent account sharing and protect your content:
- When creating or editing a course, go to the Course Info tab.
- Locate the Allowed Devices setting.
- Enter the maximum number of devices a student can use to browse the course (Max 5).
- Save your settings.
2. Handling Device & Access Requests
If a student attempts to log in from a new device that exceeds their limit, or requests entry to a private course:
- Navigate to the Access Requests section in the sidebar.
- You will see a list of pending requests. Each row shows the student's name, the course, and the specific request.
- Approve or Reject:
- Click Approve to allow the student into the course or authorize the new device.
- Click Reject if the request seems suspicious or unauthorized.
- If you hit a message saying "Student Max Device Acceptance", it means the student has already reached the maximum limit allowed for your course.
3. Managing Student Devices
If a student loses a phone or upgrades their hardware, you can manage their active devices:
- In the Access Requests list, click on a student's row to expand their details.
- A modal will open showing all Active Devices currently linked to that student's account for your course.
- You can review the device types (e.g., iPhone, Android, Chrome) and the date they were last used.
- Click Remove or Reset on specific devices to free up a slot, allowing the student to register their new device.
4. Monitoring Course Reviews
To see what students think of your course:
- Go to the Reviews section.
- Filter reviews by Course or Rating to find relevant feedback.
- Use student insights to improve your teaching material and course structure.
Tips
- Device Security: High-value courses should typically have a limit of 1 or 2 devices to prevent unauthorized redistribution of content.
- Timely Approvals: Check your access requests daily, especially at the start of a new semester, to ensure students don't face login delays.
- Review Student History: Before approving a device request, click the student's row to see their previous device history to ensure it's a legitimate request.
